Her love for storytelling began at age 10, evolving from homemade videos into a lasting passion for performance and creative storytelling.
She made her first stage appearance in WILEY AND THE HAIRY MAN and continued performing throughout high school in productions including LOVE/SICK and GROUP THERAPY, later earning induction into the International Thespian Society.
She also performed in COMMONWEALTH VS. DIAMOND inside the Fairfax County Courthouse, gaining experience performing in a unique theatrical setting.
From 2007 to 2013, she trained in Classical Indian dance and singing, earning awards in both solo and group performances.
She also frequently served as an anchor for live cultural events hosted by Anu Arts Academy, developing her confidence, stage presence, and connection with audiences from an early age.
Sanyu’s passion for storytelling extends beyond performance into creating original work for the screen.
She wrote and edited FOR HIM (2025), leading the project from concept through completion, and created WHEN SPARK MEETS STILLNESS (2025), serving as writer, director, cinematographer, and editor.
She is also developing MY MUSEUM (2027), ROOT, and additional original projects exploring emotional truth, identity, human connection, and the complexity of personal experience.
Through her original work, she continues to develop her voice as a filmmaker and storyteller while exploring different roles throughout the creative process.
Her creative work extends across writing, production, visual storytelling, and technical filmmaking.
She has experience in script development and dramaturgy, including work on CRAVE (2025), and has received writing awards including the Peace Essay Award and the For Love of Country Foundation Award.
She contributed to FEDORA RON (2026) across multiple areas of production, including sound, marketing, and 2nd AC work, while also working as a Digital and Social Media Producer on the project, creating behind-the-scenes footage, promotional videos, graphics, and social content.
Her production experience also includes stage management and technical theatre, with credits including IT’S NOT YOU, GOING TO SCHOOL, and CUT. She supported the props team for MAMMA MIA and assisted technical teams for LEGALLY BLONDE and WILEY AND THE HAIRY MAN.
Photography is another part of her creative practice, with a focus on architecture, nature, behind-the-scenes film photography, and visual storytelling.
Alongside her work in film and theatre, Sanyu has built a growing digital platform with 11.3K+ followers, 1.3M+ likes, and 3M+ views.
Her content spans acting, filmmaking, fitness, bodybuilding, personal growth, dance, humor, and lifestyle, allowing her to explore storytelling and audience connection in a different format.
Her background in fitness and bodybuilding also brings physical discipline, strength, and body awareness to her work, supporting roles and creative projects that require movement, physical transformation, and adaptability on camera.
As a first-generation South Asian artist with family roots in Tamil Nadu, India, she is interested in authentic representation and creating space for stories and perspectives that reflect the complexity of identity, culture, family, and growing up between cultures.
