ABOUT

Sanyu Srikanth is a South Indian actress with over a decade of experience in film and theatre, with credits spanning more than 19 films and 14 stage productions. She is represented by Brilliant Talent Management and holds a B.F.A. in Acting for Film from the New York Film Academy. Her training there included Acting for Film, Contemporary and Theatrical Acting, Shakespeare, Period Styles, Voiceover, Improvisation, Audition Technique, and Stage Combat. She also completed the Advanced On-Camera Technique Workshop at the Stella Adler Studio of Acting with casting director Todd Thaler.

While at NYFA, she was named to the Dean’s List every semester for both academic and artistic achievements and was selected as the commencement speaker at her graduation ceremony. Performance credits include FOR HIM, BEAN DIP, MURDER’S IN THE HEIR, BACHELORETTE, and MODERN AMERICAN ROMANCE.

Now based between New York City and Washington, D.C., her work continues to span auditions, film productions, and the development of original creative projects in writing, filmmaking, and photography.

EARLY LIFE AND ARTISTIC ROOTS

A love for storytelling began at age 10, when homemade videos evolved into a lifelong passion for storytelling. Her first stage appearance was in WILEY AND THE HAIRY MAN at Rocky Run Middle School. Theatre became a central part of her artistic life throughout high school, where she performed in productions such as LOVE/SICK and GROUP THERAPY at Chantilly High School. Dedication to the theatre program earned her a theatre letter, pin, and induction into the International Thespian Society.

Performance opportunities also extended beyond traditional theatre spaces. One notable role included portraying Joanne Diamond in COMMONWEALTH VS. DIAMOND, staged inside the Fairfax County Courthouse.

From 2007 to 2013, she also trained in Classical Indian dance and singing, earning several awards in both solo and group competitions. During this time, she frequently served as an anchor for live cultural events hosted by Anu Arts Academy, gaining recognition for her confidence and stage presence.

ORIGINAL WORK

Sanyu’s passion for storytelling also extends into creating original work for the screen. Recently, she created her own film project, FOR HIM, serving as both writer and editor and overseeing the project’s creative development from concept to completion.

She is currently developing additional original projects, WHEN SPARK MEETS STILLNESS and MY MUSEUM, that explore themes of human connection, emotional truth, and personal identity through film. Through these projects, Sanyu continues expanding her voice as a filmmaker and storyteller, developing narratives that reflect the complexity of being human.

WORK BEHIND THE CAMERA

In addition to acting, Sanyu has pursued writing and script development, earning several awards including the Peace Essay Award and the For Love of Country Foundation Award.

Her production experience includes several technical and creative roles. She served as dramaturg for the production of CRAVE, working with the cast to explore the psychological depth of the text and its emotional landscape. On the short film FEDORA RON, she worked as photographer, marketing coordinator, sound operator, and 2nd AC. Additional work includes stage managing IT’S NOT YOU, GOING TO SCHOOL, and CUT at Chantilly High School, supporting the props team for MAMMA MIA, and assisting technical teams for LEGALLY BLONDE and WILEY AND THE HAIRY MAN.

Photography is another area of focus, with work centered on architectural photography, behind-the-scenes film photography, and visual storytelling.

BEYOND ACTING

Outside of film and theatre, Sanyu shares parts of her creative and personal journey online. On TikTok, more than 11,000 followers engage with her content centered around acting, fitness, and everyday life. Weightlifting became an important part of her routine in 2020 and continues to be a space where discipline and personal growth intersect. She often incorporates this experience into her content, encouraging confidence and strength both physically and mentally.

As a first-generation South Indian artist, she is committed to amplifying underrepresented voices in the entertainment industry. She strives to bring complex and authentic characters to life while contributing to stories that allow audiences to see new perspectives and experiences reflected on screen and stage.

Through her work, she continues to expand her voice as an actress, filmmaker, and storyteller, creating narratives that explore the complexity of the human experience.
